I'm currently in the process to move all internet services (web pages, e-mail accounts, and what not) from this server to a new one. Due to the nature of upgrading to move things is not a simple copy, instead a lot of stuff has to be hand configured and tested. Thus it is a large effort on my part. The computer that this site is running on is already asked for a totally different grant duty and thus everything has to go from it.

Looking at the past usage and posting as well as content, I doubt that the Aldi forum will be missed greatly. Thus I'll save myself lots of work by simply dropping it. So expect that this site will disappear from the face of the internet.

Thanks for visiting the site and for participating in the discussions.

Claus

Oh, boy! Lot of time has passed and I haven't gotten much of the stuff done that I wanted to do. I guess that's why this forum is still around. Interesting is that I still got time to update the forum software to the latest release and added support that ignores case with the user name when logging in. So now I can log in as claus instead of having to type a capital C.

Lately I have seen an increase of spam in the forum. Spam posts and spam users will be deleted. I consider spam everything that is off topic, mainly this means users that sign up to promote some website. To make spaming less attractive the rel="nofollow" code is now added to member provided links. That means that google will ignore the link when indexing. You can find more info at http://books.google.com/webmasters/bot.html#www if you want to torture your brain.

The forum has been moved to a different server. Right after the move there were some problems that caused everybody to be locked out from the site. These issues should have been solved though and everything should work as before. You should now notice that the web pages load much faster.

BTW: Apparently the site is sticking around a bit longer than expected.

I just want to clarify that the forum isn't going away anytime soon. The forum has been moved successfully to a new server, spammers have been curbed and maintenance of the forum takes very little time. It's also nice to see that people are using and enjoying the forum. So don't worry that the forum will be disappearing. It will be here for quite a while.
